I'm honored...but LOL

I just took this Good Cop / Bad Cop quiz over at another site, and this was my result:

Bad Cop

Special Agent Jack Bauer: "The only reason that you're conscious right now is because I don't want to carry you." Based on your answers, you'd make Jack Bauer look like a crossing guard!

And I thought I was being too nice in answering the questions!

If you could read my mind...

One of my all time favorite songs by one of my favorite singer-songwriters of all time.

(Facebook friends need to view original post to see the video)

I've had many of those "...the feeling's gone and I just can't get it back" moments in my life, and I always think of this song at those times.

I'm still looking for "a movie queen to play the scene of bringing all the good things out in me.

I've had the pleasure of seeing Gordon in person a few times. Some of my best memories are of Lightfoot concerts. I saw him, I think twice, at the Universal Amphitheatre back in the late 70's, and then again at the Greek Theatre in '90 and '94 I believe. I've put off seeing him for the last few years, but neither of us is getting any younger so if he makes another concert swing through this area, I'm going or I'll never forgive myself.

"...the ending's just too hard to take"

What little I've seen of Bill Maher I don't like...

...and here he just makes a total ass of himself.

Why would anyone give one ounce of credence to anything this boob says?

This made me cry...and pissed me off. GRAPHIC VIOLENCE

Warning: the following contains textual violence

How the "Raise Your Hand" baby got that way
[The video above is] the new ad from Priests for Life:

The story of this particular child is here.

How come the arm isn't attached? Read Dr. Leroy Carhart's testimony, in which he was questioned about how he performs his extraction abortions. Carhart indicates that he tried to grab the baby and get it positioned to where he can suck out the brain without taking the baby apart first. But sometimes, he indicates, the baby sticks a limb out through the cervix, and it's just easer to pull that part off and go from there:

Carhart: My normal course would be to dismember that extremity and then go back and try to take the fetus out either foot or skull first, whatever end I can get to first.

Question: How do you go about dismembering that extremity?

Carhart: Just traction and rotation, grasping the portion that you can get a hold of which would be usually somewhere up the shaft of the exposed portion of the fetus, pulling down on it through the os, using the internal os as your counter-traction and rotating to dismember the shoulder or the hip or whatever it would be. Sometimes you will get one leg and you can’t get the other leg out.

Question: In that situation, are you, when you pull on the arm and remove it, is the fetus still alive?

Carhart: Yes.

Question: Do you consider an arm, for example, to be a substantial portion of the fetus?

Carhart: In the way I read it, I think if I lost my arm, that would be a substantial loss to me. I think I would have to interpret it that way.

Question: And then what happens next after you remove the arm? You then try to remove the rest of the fetus?

Carhart: Then I would go back and attempt to either bring the feet down or bring the skull down, or even sometimes you bring the other arm down and remove that also and then get the feet down.

Question: At what point is the fetus...does the fetus die during that process?

Carhart: I don’t really know. I know that the fetus is alive during the process most of the time because I can see fetal heartbeat on the ultrasound.

This is how a normal second trimester abortion is done. D&E.

Faith and I

This is Faith on morphine. We left the hospital just after she came out of surgery to give mom and dad some time alone with her and get her settled in. She cried for quite awhile while we were gone until they gave in to the morphine drip.

We went back this afternoon for a couple hours. She was pretty content while we were there, and sat on my lap for close to an hour. The only time she cried was when the blood pressure cuff on her leg went off and tightened up. She didn't like that.

She wouldn't give up and close her eyes while we were there, so we laid her down in the bed and left. Figured that way she, mom, and dad could all hopefully get some rest.

I've been asked if she has Down's. She doesn't. That's just the effect of the morphine.

Prayer Request

Tomorrow morning Faith will go into surgery to repair a submucousal cleft of the soft palate. More about the specifics of that here: http://www.cleftline.org/publications/submucous

I would ask that if you're the praying type, that you would pray that God would guide the hand of the surgeons, that the procedure would go flawlessly, that the recovery would be quick and uneventful and the repair would be successful. I would also ask for prayer that the rest of the family would have the strength and patience to deal with the recovery process.

A new day, a new blog

Because sometimes it's better to just start over, here I am with "More Pieces of My Mind" here at Blogger rather than my old LiveJournal.

I've been trying to integrate all my "social" stuff as much as possible. Between Facebook, MySpace, Twitter, LiveJournal, and who knows what else, it drives me crazy trying to keep up.

I know. Why try? Why post so much about my life in public forums where, let's face it, no one really cares that much anyway.

Short answer: I have no idea. I just enjoy it. But I wouldn't mind being able to post once and have it show up every darn place. I don't use MySpace much anymore, but it still has it's purpose. I have friends there that I don't have anywhere else. Facebook is cool, but I'm not too sure about the latest iteration of the interface. I'm withholding judgement on that for now. Twitter is cool, and quick, and up to the minute, but it is what it is: a way to keep the world up to date with short blurbs and no more. LiveJournal is a favorite, and again, I have friends there that post nowhere else, although that seems to be changing. I also have a very cool phone app that lets me post (along with photos) on the go. It seems Blogger has the same, or similar, functionality, and we'll see how that works as we go along. That answer wasn't so short was it?

I've got Facebook and Twitter integrated pretty tightly. I can enter a status on Twitter from anywhere and it will update my Facebook page immediately. Now I can make a post here and it'll sync to Facebook also. I think my LJ friends feed may just go into my RSS reader.

Either I have way too much time on my hands, or I need a life, or both.

I'm going to go live for awhile.
